On foot, from Venice main railway station (Santa Lucia)
Get off at Mestre railway station (all trains from Venice island stop there).
By bus from Mestre railway station
Outside the railway station, cross the road and take bus number 2 or 9. You will travel up Via Piave but you must get off after about only 2 minutes at the last stop of Via Piave (tip: you can ask in Italian “ulteema fermata dee Veea Peeavay”). This is after about 1 km and just before the crossroads with traffic lights. Then walk to the crossroads and traffic lights (with Via Miranese to the left, Via Circonvallazione straight over, and Via Carducci to the right). Turn right into Via Carducci and continue for about 250 m.
You come to a public square ("Piazzale Donatori di Sangue") with trees and garden. Facing onto the square towards the right is Mestre's central post office. The other building – the Consulate’s location – is a block of flats and offices with a bank on the ground floor. Our entrance is between the bank and the Apple computer shop.
On foot, from Mestre railway station
Opposite Mestre railway station is Via Piave, which is about 1 km long. You must go all the way along it, to the crossroads (Via Miranese to the left, Via Circonvallazione straight over, and Via Carducci to the right). Turn right into Via Carducci and continue for about 250 m.

On foot, from Venice’s main bus terminus (“Piazzale Roma”)
Take bus no 7 or 7/ and get off in “Piazzale Donatori di Sangue” (also known as “Piazzale Sicilia” or “Piazza delle Poste”. The bus stops outside "Hotel Centrale" and opposite Mestre's main post office. Crossing the road at the zebra crossing, you will see the Consulate’s building to your left. Our entrance is between the bank and the Apple computer shop.
On foot, from Venice Airport (“Marco Polo”), Tessera (VE)
Take bus number 15 and get off at the first bus stop in Via Miranese (opposite Blockbuster). You must go back to the crossroads, cross over into Via Carducci and continue for about 250 m.

How we can and cannot help you
Consular Services cover several areas of assistance, which you can read more here.
As guests in Italy, we rely heavily on the Italian system, so it is essential that we foster good working relations with key local institutions: the local police (Polizia) and other law-and-order forces, Carabinieri (military police) and Guardia di Finanza (tax police). The structure of these forces in Italy is rather different to the UK and, for example, should you ever be stranded on a mountain footpath and require mountain-rescue a team, this assistance is provided by the Guardia di Finanza (a special division of Italy’s tax police!).
This is important to us (and to you!) because direct links to local institutions may help us provide the right assistance to you in moments of need.
